I suspect this is why Emers...Good post, Professor.<br /><br />I suspect this is why Emerson was careful to add the word "foolish" to his aphorism.<br /><br />Of course, by adding that word he rendered the statement utterly meaningless. <br /><br />Foolishness itself is the hobgoblin of little minds and, therefore, he could have used any word in place of the word "consistency" and the statement would still have held.<br /><br />For example, a foolish <em>kindness</em> is the hobgoblin of little minds.<br /><br />In other words, it's foolishness itself that's the hobgoblin of little minds, not the noun it modifies.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07265281339588174852noreply@blogger.com
